We haven’t even made it into Spring yet, and BOY do we have some dramatics going on.  Chris Brown?  Alex Rodriguez?  Michael Phelps?  Dwyane Wade?  What a February.   Each one of these young men unquestionably have recently amassed incredible scrutiny and now have to face the consequences of their actions in a much more magnified role than most of us could imagine.

Recently I’ve been faced with situations that I never woud have thought remotely possible. Betrayal, lies and selfish loathing comprise a lot of the makeup of people that you no doubt interface with everyday.   If a situation appears to be potentially volatile, don’t pretend that it’s not there in front of you - observe the signs and adhere.  I don’t know what compelled any of these men to do the things that have thrust them into negative worldwide focus.  Their actions have undoubtedly damaged image, finances, family, friends and more.  I am sure that they each have advisors to help them get through it from a media perspective, but it is from within the depths of their being that they will have to rise and contend with it all for probably the rest of their lives.

In the midst of crisis, we’ve got to keep our eye on the future.  I’ve learned this over and over again.  The magnitude of the issues that these men face and it puts a lot of things in perspective.   I wish them all well in their life paths, however uncertain they may be presently, and they should take some solace in knowing that character is not determined by the triumphs in life, but by the ability to arise from depths of adversity and discord.
